Hugh C. Macgill - Dean, School of LawWhen something goes wrong, who pays for it? That is a central question in all legal systems. Problems of risk and responsibility pervade the law. They constitute the principal concern of the business of insurance, with its enormous concentration of capital. Considering the importance of those problems, their complexity, and the magnitude of the economic and social stakes that turn on the answers to them, it is astonishing that they have received so little systematic academic attention.

The Insurance Law Center of the University of Connecticut School of Law will serve as a national resource for education and study of insurance as a business and of more general questions of risk and responsibility in which the institutions of insurance are embedded. With its specialized curriculum, unique LL.M. program, research initiatives, conferences and workshops, and student-edited journal, the Insurance Law Center is without parallel in the nation.

With this web site, we invite your participation in one of the most exciting and promising endeavors in legal education today.

Sincerely,
Signed
Hugh C. Macgill
Dean, School of Law
