Welcome from Dean Paul

Congratulations again on your admission to the University of Connecticut School of Law. We are delighted you have decided to join us, and on behalf of the faculty and staff, it is my pleasure formally to welcome you into our community that includes more than 600 students and over 8,000 graduates practicing law and doing other interesting work around the state and throughout the nation and the world. I know each of you will add something valuable to our mix.

The final weeks of summer before school begins are precious, and I urge you to find some time for relaxation even as you begin planning your arrival on campus. Rest assured that while you are getting ready, many people here will be busy arranging an informative orientation session designed to answer most questions you might have and to familiarize you with the way things are done around here. Of course, I'm sure we'll be doing some things differently by the time each of you graduates and leaves your stamp on the place.

For those of you eager to get a head start on law school, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Anne Dailey, who will be your maestro throughout orientation, has prepared a list of summer reading selections from which you might pick and choose. From my standpoint, it's at least as important to read the newspaper every day and a good novel or two. You can also learn an extraordinary amount about life at law school and the Hartford area by navigating your way around our website. Indeed, despite our best efforts to plan a comprehensive orientation, the website will always include more important information than we can cover during our brief couple of days in late August. If you discover information you need that you cannot find on the web, please let us know so we can try to help you.
