Student Finance Office Statement On Privacy Of Student Records And Confidentiality
Telephone calls: Students need to call regarding the status of their financial aid application. Whether or not the application was even received cannot be confirmed unless a student requests this information. A number of unique identifying questions will be asked to ensure that the student is on the phone.
Parents of students who are required to submit their income information and tax information may request additional information regarding these forms. Students will NOT be given any information regarding parents income. Unique identifying questions will be asked to ensure that the parent is on the phone.
Parents and/or students may submit a notarized letter stating that this office may share information with the other party.
Copies of written and electronic (email/fax) correspondence are kept in student files. When at all possible, necessary responses are sent via email directly to the student.
Parents , spouses, or ex-spouses will NOT be given any information regarding a student's file. Only information submitted by the third party (i.e. tax returns, etc.) will be subject to discussion. A student's award, loans, grants, and tuition and fee bills will not be discussed with a third party.
Students who request that information be sent to a third party (i.e. landlord, mortgage company, etc.) must submit a written letter of consent with the third party's information.
